Sunday 21st February 2021 This week we continue our sermon series reflecting on our parish vision. Today we concentrate on Matthew 28: 1-20. How do we proclaim the risen Jesus? Gordon leads our service with Andrew giving our sermon. Judy Philips reads our Bible passage and Lisa Hillan delivers our prayers.
Sunday 14th February 2021 We continue to look at what means to be The Parish of the Resurrection – what is our character and what are the characteristics of us as Resurrection people? This week we look at the story in Luke Chapter 7 of the Woman at Nain and the raising to life of her son. This is read to us by Yvonne Wickens and Revd Gordon Randall speaks about it. Sally Kemp leads us in our prayers.
Sunday 7th February 2021 We now move into four weeks looking at what it means to be The Parish of the Resurrection – what is our character and what are the characteristics of us as Resurrection people. This fits with our vision to be Proclaiming the Risen Jesus, Steadfast in Fatih and Active in Service. In this service led by Revd Gordon Randall we have an Old Testament Reading, 2 Kings 4: 8-37, and we look at a miracle in Shumen and the prophet Elisha. That reading is read today by Steve Thompson; our prayers are by Barry Watts and the sermon from our Vicar, Andrew Micklefield. Enjoy this time as we come together!
Sunday 31st January 2021 We end our Epiphany season with the story of The Presentation of Christ at the Temple. This Sunday is often called Candlemas.’ We continue looking at our Parish Vision – Proclaiming the Risen Jesus, Steadfast in Fatih and Active in Service. Sunday 3rd January 2021 We celebrate Epiphany and the theme of our service is ‘Grace and Truth’. We welcome Revd Gordon Randall, our Associate Vicar to talk to this theme from John 1: 10-18. Ruth Randall reads the Bible passage for us and Fiona Micklefield leads us in the prayers. Revd Andrew Micklefield, our Vicar, leads us through the service.
Sunday 27th December – Come and enjoy worship for both Alton Methodist Church and The Parish of the Resurrection. This service is led by Revd Andrew Micklefield with thanks to Judy Nicholls and Tim Codling for their contributions. The theme is ‘The Shepherds visit Jesus’.

Advent Carol Service This is a service of Advent music (hymns and choir pieces) with Bible Readings and prayers. We begin this special season in this way every year. We wait with patience and expectation the coming of Jesus Christ.

Sunday 11th October Our online worship for Sunday continues as we continue to think of Harvest and also as we begin a new sermon series which is going to take us through the six conversations of the Book of Malachi – the last book of the Old Testament. Gordon leads us in our worship, Charlie and Helen Walters read and pray respectively and I speak on Malachi Chapter 1 verses 1-5

Sunday 20th September Sunday Worship Service ‘Looking forward’ is now available. This week we are looking at 2 Peter 3: 1-13. Revd Andrew Micklefield leads today’s service and delivers the sermon. We have Pippa Mills leading our intercessions and Ann Mason giving the Bible Reading. Thank you to Boran who tells us his Alpha story – we hope this will encourage you to join this upcoming Online Alpha course in October.
Sunday 13th September This week Revd Andrew Micklefield leads us through our worship. We look at 2 Peter Chapter 2 – Revd. Andrew Micklefield speaks on this passage with Alison Stickland delivering the reading. The focus this week is on education and we pray for all the schools and colleges as the new term begins.
Sunday 6th September This week we look at 2 Peter 1: 12-21. Peter Johnson reads the passage and Revd Gordon Randall looks at the reading in greater depth. At the beginning of October we will be starting a new Online Alpha Course. Throughout this Sunday service we learn a little bit more about what an alpha course is. We also have some wonderful worship songs for you to join in with.
Sunday 30th August This week we begin looking at the first eleven verses of 2 Peter. Revd. Andrew Micklefield is leading this service and offering our prayers of intercession. We also have the opportunity to hear from Caroline Weighton about her work at Treloar’s College. Keren Brake reads God’s Word for us and Revd. Gordon Randall offers some thoughts on that reading from 2:Peter 1:1-11.
Sunday 23rd August This week Revd Andrew Micklefeild leads us through our worship. We look at 1 Peter Chapter 5 ‘Looking after God’s people’ – Revd Joy Windsor speaks on this passage.’ Mark Rumsby from Alton Christians Against Poverty joins us this week to tell us about his work and ministry. Dennis Milns reading from the Bible and Kay Walker leads our prayers.
Sunday 16th August This week Revd Gordon Randall leads us through our worship. We look at 1 Peter 4: 12-19 ‘Committed to God in times of suffering – Revd Joy Windsor speaks on this passage.’. Robin and Sally Kemp join us this week to tell us about the Alton Foodbank and John Ogden leads our prayers and gives our Bible reading.
Sunday 9th August 2020 This week we look at 1 Peter 4: 1-11. Revd Andrew Micklefield leads our service with Revd Gordon Randall giving our sermon. We are also joined by Andrew Hind and Robin Lees with Ella and Roger Frampton giving us an insight into the work of the Resurrection Furniture shop.
Sunday 2nd August 2020 Our first service in August! Councillor Matthew Bayliss from Alton Town Council tells us about what they have been doing during lockdown and more importantly about the Alton & District Community Resilience Fund. Magnus Weighton gives us our Bible reading 1 Peter 3 and Wendy Burnhams leads our prayers. Guest speaker! – Revd Clive Anderson joins us from the Butts Church in Alton to lead our sermon.

Sunday 26th July Last video for July! Today we look at 1 Peter 2: 11-25 and particularly at the part of that reading that talks about following in God’s footsteps – What Would Jesus Do? . The serivce is led by Revd Gordon Randall and the talk on these verses is given by Revd Andrew Micklefield. The Bible reading is read by Janet Maw, prayers by Andrew Hinde and this week we have Liz Griffiths from the Alton Local Food Initiative giving us an insight their work.

Sunday 3rd May 2020 Sunday Worship This week is a Songs of Praise style service with the help of The St Lawrence Virtual Choir for most of our hymns and songs. We look at the Reading from John 10:1-10 where Jesus declares ‘I am the gate’. We end with a celebration of Gwen Pettigrew’s 100th birthday and then a piece organ music which Will Nisbet recorded at his home.

Sunday 26th April 2020 Sunday Worship. This week we concentrate on the story of ‘The Road to Emmaus’ one of the resurrection appearances of Jesus from Luke 24: 13-35. Easter Sunday Service – Happy Easter from the Parish of the Resurrection. ‘For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.’ John 3.16.
