Alton Climate Action Network (ACAN)

Alton Climate Action Network brings together people from Alton and surrounding villages to take action to improve biodiversity and reduce carbon emissions from food, transport, energy and purchasing “stuff”. ACAN also lobbies and works in partnership with local government. You may be interested in completing the survey by the Action on Plastics & Waste group of ACAN – the group wants your views on recycling & waste disposal

ACAN have also produced a recycling guide. Please click here. It was originally produced by the EHDC Councillor Steve Hunt.

There is also a report on the ACAN web site about a survey that they did on plastics as well. Take a look here

AVLAN (Alton & Villages Action for Nature) recently dug a Gilbert White Anniversary Garden in the grounds of All Saints Church. A collaborative project between The Gilbert White Museum, the Parish of the Resurrection and AVLAN, the garden commemorates the 300th birthday in 2020 of the Rev Gilbert White, 1720 – 1793, naturalist and gardener. He would have known all the insect-friendly plants we planted – many of which were donated by the Museum.
