Message from the Vicar – 23rd March 2020 ‘A little encouragement’

I do hope that you managed to access some worship and prayer yesterday. It was the first Sunday with the suspension of church services because of COVID-19. It all seemed rather strange but we live with the need to keep ourselves and others safe and healthy. That is our Christian mission as part of proclaiming the life-saving Gospel of Jesus Christ,

I have had several notes and comments thanking the Ministry Team for all they are doing at this time. Thank you. The Ministry Team met today by Zoom, all of us sitting in our homes connected by technology. I think we all quite enjoyed it actually!

Thank you also to the many people who have offered to help others in different ways. In the next day or so I will be contacting some of you so that we can buddy up with those who are feeling particularly isolated and alone. There are some who will not receive our emails, video clips and messages on social media so a phone call is the thing to do. If you would like to add your name to those who can help then would you let me know and if you think of anyone who would appreciate a friendly phone call then either let me know or give them a quick call yourself.

Our intention is to post more short Youtube Videos throughout the week and a longer one for each Sunday and you will see different members of The Ministry Team presenting these. Keep your eye on social media and also these update emails.

I know many of you lit candles in your windows last night as part of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s call to prayer. It was amazing to see photos of these appearing on Facebook and Twitter and on different WhatsApp groups. In our Ministry Team meeting we thought ‘why wouldn’t we do this every evening at 7pm?’ So why not do it? It is an amazing witness and a fabulous reminder to pray. Pray for healing of our land, healing for God’s people, for the casting away of fear and for the love of God to surround us at this time.

Remembering always the promise that ‘nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord’ – Romans 8:39

Take care and with blessings
Andrew
